Suhyeon Burns is an associate and a member of the firm’s litigation department. Her practice areas include construction, real estate, condominium, business and complex commercial litigation law.
Suhyeon graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law, during which time she served as Co-Editor-in-Chief for the University of Hawai‘i Law Review, Teaching Assistant for Lawyering Fundamentals (I & II) and Criminal Law, Scholar Advocate and Research Assistant for Professor Eric K. Yamamoto with whom she co-authored two law review articles, and as Secretary for the Hawai‘i chapter of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society. Additionally, Suhyeon received several scholarships and the CALI Excellence for the Future awards in Torts, Lawyering Fundamentals I, and Legal Research.
While attending law school, Suhyeon served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court, and was a law clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Hawai‘i. Before law school, Suhyeon worked with the Hawai‘i State Legislature for several years, staffing for a former Representative and Finance Committee Chair and the House Majority Communications Office. She also served as a legislative intern in Washington, D.C. for a former Hawai‘i Congresswoman and gained experience working at an immigration law firm based in Honolulu. Suhyeon is originally from South Korea, is a graduate of Moanalua High School, and is fluent in Korean.
